Mindfulness in Prep

Competition Prep is a funny thing. We all come to this journey in our own way, but deal with many of the same challenges. The interesting part is that on social media many competitors and coaches dedicate entire accounts to meal prepping/nutrition and training tips, but never talk about the importance of the mental game.

You’ve got the training plan, and your nutrition is on point, but that’s not enough. There will be moments where your motivation will be at a negative, you’ll get frustrated with your progress, you’ll doubt that you’ll be “ready” in time, you’ll feel like a loner when everyone is enjoying foods that you can’t partake in… are you nodding your head yet? I know I was there, and no one prepared me for how hard the mental game was going to be when I set my first show date.

I spent countless hours on Google trying to figure out how to handle the stress… how to get my boyfriend comfortable with me being on stage in a TINY bikini… how to feel more confident in my prep. The trouble was, there really wasn’t much out there specifically for competitors. I knew in that moment that it was the Universe telling me it needed to come from Amanda Louise. I needed to personally put myself out there and bring my girls what the really needed.

The Meditation Podcast

This first came to life through The Mindful Fit Chick. It’s a meditation podcast I record to help provide pre-workout motivation. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE me a good pre-workout supplement. Probably too much, lol. But I was relying TOO MUCH on chemical highs to get me through my intense gym sessions. Like the saying goes, my mind was giving up far quicker than my body. There’s one season of meditations uploaded to iTunes (and here on the site) with more planned for 2020. Need help with a specific subject? LET ME KNOW!

The Amanda Louise Fit Chick Facebook Group

The next step expanding our mindfulness resources was to create our first private Facebook Group. (You can join that HERE.) It’s totally free to be a part of and today has over 200 incredible women in there. The goal of the group is to motivate, inspire, and support each other through this online community. It’s a SAFE place to ask questions, share wins, get support through struggles, and everything else. I also try to share any new mindfulness resources I’m personally using so you can check them out too.

The Mindful Competitor Program

This is where I REALLY took things to the next level. I wanted a way to support my girls throughout their entire prep journey. A way to give them exactly what I wish I would have had when I was still stepping on stage. (Yes, currently “retired”… but you never know!) I spent months planning, prepping, and creating what is now this 13 module program designed to support you in everything the typical “coach” doesn’t do. It’s videos talking through different challenges we face… like an unsupportive family or social media comparison. It’s guided meditations to help align your mind with your goals. It’s journaling exercises to help put things into physical form and really set them in stone. Women have described it as a GAME CHANGER in prep, because again, your mind gives up WAY before your body does… so let’s get that mind in incredible shape.

THE SISTERHOOD

Bringing it all together. Mindfulness is something that becomes a habit. And habits are easier formed in a collective community (this has been scientifically proven. So cool right?) So I set out to create a COMMUNITY that was more than a facebook group or social media following. A community that had incredible resources and a common goal.

So the Sisterhood was born… with a Members Only resource website filled with not only access to The Mindful Competitor Program but other resources including exclusive meditations, templates to enhance your journey in countless ways, and so much more. There’s a Members Only Facebook Group where we host Q&A sessions and bring in special guests. AND there’s a subscription box. (SAY WHAAAAAAT). I won’t get too into that here, but we’re currently looking to add in some fun “woo woo” products to bring these boxes to the NEXT LEVEL. Get ready.

I can’t even begin to explain how honored I feel to be helping women with this “unspoken” side of prep. I can tell you from experience that getting your mind right during this process will take your experience to a level you can’t even dream of. There’s a reason you see ads online now with LeBron James using the Calm App, and Michael Phelps online chatting with therapists… the MIND is the key to ultimate performance. Not a meal plan, not a specific glute workout. YOUR MIND.

As a disclaimer, I am NOT a licensed therapist for certified guru…. but I DO have years of experience going through exactly what you’re going through, and supporting countless women who have literally walked into my studio in tears dealing with our common struggles.
