24 Hours Out | Guest Blog

A guest blog written by Megan Wampler…

1 day out. Here’s the fun part. All the hard work has been done. It’s time to shine! The schedule is full today. It’s time to pack & head out...and then suddenly your whole world is shook.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.”

July 19, 2019… A day I will never forget.

It was the day before show day. I woke up with all of the feels. And most importantly a full bladder because that's where we spend half out time in prep… the bathroom! As I came out my mom asked me if I was okay. I could respond a million ways but I responded with “I think so, are you?” And that's when I received the news I knew was coming but never did I think it would be so soon.

My papa had went to Heaven.

But why! Why today! Why now! Sometimes the timing isn't right and sometimes you just have to understand that. I was crushed. I had my last fasted cardio session to do. I wasn’t going. I wasn’t going to do the show. There was no way. My mom said you have to! My grandma said it’s what he would want. So I went to the gym to finish my last session. The owner gave me a shirt and wished me luck as I smiled barely keeping it together. I lost it on the treadmill. There was no way I could do this. One of my best friends was gone. My biggest fan! When no one else cared my papa was telling all his friends and people that his granddaughter was a strong bodybuilder and always first place in his book! This show will always mean so much to me.

Although I did not talk about it during the show, the love and support I had from everyone after was overwhelming. They always say bodybuilders are a weird breed and it is true. At the end of the day we all come together.

The best part about competition is through it we discover what we are capable of and how much more we can actually do than we ever believed possible. You body can stand almost anything. It’s your mind that you have to convince. You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it!

Never forget!
